Here’s the full article:

As a young public defender in Los Angeles, I stood beside people at the hardest moments of their lives, learning what it truly means to fight for justice. That commitment to advocacy was rooted long before law school, in my upbringing as the daughter of a second-generation Colombian-Mexican immigrant family, where responsibility meant lifting others as you rise. My father, an architect who also owned his own firm, taught me that service gives work its purpose. He designed housing for people with disabilities not for recognition but because he believed dignity should be built into the world, quite literally. From him, I learned that talent carries responsibility and that service and skill belong together.

Inspired by that example, I co-founded The Miller Law Group with my husband, Chris, building it from just the two of us into a team of ten in a few short years. Our client-centered firm, rooted in Pasadena, pairs aggressive representation with compassionate counsel. We handle criminal defense, civil rights, and personal injury cases, but the mission is singular: to protect human dignity when it is most at risk.

As a Latina woman in courtrooms where my presence was often an exception, I saw how quickly lives could be reduced to case numbers and charges, stripped of context and compassion. That understanding shapes how I lead our firm, with ferocity, care, and an unwavering focus on the people behind every case.

Becoming a mother to daughters deepened everything. It clarified the stakes and strengthened my resolve. I want them and young women everywhere, especially Latinas, to see that power can look like integrity, courage, and purpose. You can build something of your own. You can lead with empathy and strength. And you can use your voice not just to succeed, but to lift others as you rise.
